Recently, we undertook a project to design and manufacture twelve high-pressure and low-pressure CO2 distribution panels for use in a gas pipeline network. These panels are critical for ensuring rapid fire suppression in emergency situations, with the capability to shut down actuators and distribute CO2 with precision and reliability.
Addressing Industry Challenges:
The requirements for this project highlighted significant limitations in standard fire suppression panels, such as:
- Inability to maintain consistent pressure across multiple distribution points.
- Delays in safety system response times during emergencies.
- Lack of integrated alarm and reset functions for seamless operation.
- Insufficient scalability for large-scale industrial systems.
To overcome these challenges, we developed a bespoke solution that integrates advanced pressure control, modern monitoring systems, and automated safety features.
Key Features of the CO2 Distribution Panels
Our custom panels incorporate cutting-edge technology and thoughtful design, including:
- Precision Valve Control: Eight independent valves operate in sequence, controlling pilot valves to ensure accurate CO2 distribution.
- Safety Integration: Manual release functionality and a horn alarm alert the plant team upon completion of the sequence, facilitating timely resets.
- Advanced Pressure Management: Automated mechanisms and high-precision monitoring ensure consistent performance, even under varying load conditions.
- Real-Time Data Analytics: Integrated monitoring tools provide real-time insights, enabling predictive maintenance and operational optimisation.
Overcoming Design and Performance Uncertainties
The development process required addressing several uncertainties, including optimal pressure sensor placement, actuator speed requirements, and the design of a compact valve manifold. Rigorous testing validated the system’s reliability under extreme conditions, ensuring it met the stringent demands of the application.
